The manufacturing industry
has always been a male-dominated workforce, with women generally
making up only a small percentage of the total number of
employees in the factory. Cheval Group
of Companies has paid attention to these gaps and has
helped women achieve fair access to employment opportunities.
Cheval believes that businesses should uphold the elimination
of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation
through promotion of gender equality and empowerment of
women in the work force.
Ms Caroline Kho, Assistant Manager at the
Commercial Department of Cheval
Electronics comments, "I am proud to be part of
Cheval - the workforce is very diverse and has a multinational
setting. We are provided a work environment in which everyone
is treated fairly and with respect" Ms Caroline, a
Philippines national, is one of the company's top performers
and has been with Cheval Electronics
for more than 3 years now.

Positive outcomes of workplace diversity
have been through active training that the company offers to its
employees, especially to women. AegisTek,
the Group's primary manufacturing site, sets programs that help
improve the skills and income generation of local women by providing
them with production skills and training. |

Currently, AegisTek
offers women workers specialized training on welding and production
skills. The program trains employeesb on the proper handling of
materials and tools, workplace safety and tips from welding professionals.
Currently, there are 4 women welders at the AegisTek
plant.
As a recent graduate of the Cheval welding training
program, Ms Wasana Huanme has started a career in welding in July
2007. She is now happy with her new job as she is able to work with
better efficiency and quality to meet the demands of her position. |
