Microsoft Corp has agreed to acquire Bumrungrad Hospital's
health information system provider, Global Care Solutions (GCS),
for an undisclosed sum and has entered into a partnership with the
Thai hospital group.
The acquisition will expand the software giant's portfolio
of health-care IT systems while giving the privately owned Thai
IT provider access to worldwide markets with the authority of the
Microsoft name.
When the deal closes GCS will cease to exist as an
entity, with its employees joining Microsoft's Health Solutions
Group, which will manage product development and delivery while
providing them with access to the US company's vast resources.
