Data Center 2020 Unveiled

Energy consumption or power consumption by data centers is at an all time high. Continuous power read as efficiency and reliability in the data center industry. High consumption of power impacts the overall running costs of the data center and along with that causes environmental concerns for one and all. Environment today is everybody’s responsibility.

In an effort to discharge and deliver their responsibility Intel and T-Systems have come up with a data center efficiency lab. The lab is a joint venture of the two companies and has been named Data Center 2020. The efficiency lab has been established outside Munich, Germany. The whole idea is to work for a futuristic data center with optimum power utilization. The efforts of the two companies are being lauded for being unique and a positive initiative or rather a green initiative.

Rising energy demands of data centers which in turns means rising level of CO2. This is a cause of concern for the whole world and especially the data center industry. Data Centers today are contributing to global warming. The aim of setting up this efficiency lab is to enhance the energy efficiencies of data centers. The whole effort is to be working with and testing various cooling and design options that enhance energy efficiency of the data center. Reducing energy demands of the data centers would further decrease the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It is expected that the results of research would be made available for public reading. Reduction in energy demand would also bring down the running costs of the data center.
